We have decided to locate the mother port for "Mirai" and our buoy depot here at Mutsu. And this occasioned us to have this workshop out here. I hope this workshop will mark an epoch making thing in the history of the advancement of ocean observation and research.
In the 21st Century, earth science will become ever more important. Through your frank exchange of views, I wish this workshop will have fruitful results beneficial to the future development of earth science.
